Climate Impact Communicators course

As a component of guide training, a climate communication course empowered Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge guides to communicate the impacts of climate change. Impacts on the surrounding environment—the Bay, the intertidal zone, the forests, and nearby glaciers—are apparent to guides and visitors. The course helped give the guides the toolkit they need to communicate the local climate-related impacts in an immersive experience with their clients.

What attendees of a Climate-IC course have to say:

“Really incredible course. I took a whole college quarter course on climate change and you effectively communicated it in your half day course!!”

“This was empowering and impacted the way I see my job as a guide and steward of this land. I hope to use this moving forward in work, my academics, and my life.”

Testimonial from Shannon McBride-Morin, co-owner of Kachemak Bay Wilderness Lodge:

We were fortunate enough to have Eliot join our Wilderness Lodge team in a climate training workshop this spring. Eliot came up to Alaska and customized a program for our team the neighboring nature center staff combined. He worked collaboratively with us to personalize a plan that met our groups needs for how to communicate the impacts of climate change to our guests and visitors.  Eliot was organized and visionary, compassionate and fun to work with. Hes a great communicator himself and easy to be around, he fit right in with our team and helped us craft personalized messages on climate and helped us connect our message to people and place. We hope to have Eliot back next year for an expanded training program, and can highly recommend his climate action training program.
